In some places in the flood areas of southern Germany, in addition to power outages, some mobile phone networks have also failed. The police ask people who need help to hang white paints/cloths out of the windows.

#Germany #flooding > The evacuation of 670 people is being prepared in #Schrobenhausen, Upper #Bavaria, the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district office announced on Saturday evening.

Wheel loaders and boats from fire departments and volunteers are in the Mühlried district, along the Weilach river.

IC in #Babenhausen: The water masses can no longer be controlled and structure protection has been terminated. What matters now are human lives.

For many hours, men and women from several fire & police departements, Red Cross, office of emergency, construction workers and volunteers who spontaneously shovel sandbags have been working tirelessly to avert the worst.
People have to be brought to safety, the St. Georg nursing home is evacuated, the Leipa paper factory is closed. Several homes and apartments are no longer accessible.
The Mühlried water level is currently unable to report any discharge; the value is frozen at 100 cubic meters per second - a dimension that has never been seen in Schrobenhausen. The water level is at an incredible 3.65 meters - that is about three times the normal value.

The Bavarian Red Cross is sending water rescuers from Lower Franconia to Swabia. The water rescue train is expected to be used in the particularly affected district of Günzburg. Several rivers and streams have reached the level of a so-called “flood of the century”.

The Red Cross has set up emergency shelter at the sports center in #Mühlried, in the elementary school gym in Mühlried and in #Schrobenhausen at the Bauer company in the "Alte Schweißerei" and in the conference center.
