Yeah it makes sense that it would be tough to handle massive influx of new users, especially if sign-ups can be automated.

Overall I think the move to invite-only at this particular point in time is a good one: it ensures Alby services will continue to work and it further illustrates why anyone even remotely serious about using lightning in the long term should be building and running their own node

Glenn Greenwald is smiling strangely in this picture because he is simultaneously trying not to laugh and trying not to cry because I heard about his talk at the last minute on a hot summer day and I had to run all the way across campus to make it in time and as a result I smelled so fucking awful that if I had any ability to feel shame I would have died instantly.

I for one am incredibly grateful for everything @adam and @Johncdvorak have given us over the last 16 years. They have cut through the media propaganda bullshit week in and week out for us with a samurai sword, but it's far more than that.

They've given all of us fringe weirdos a place where we can gather and find others like us. They have given us community. And they've given us a much healthier worldview.
