Tech music pals: does anyone know of a free/cheap API-based service which when given a song title and artist, will tell me the bpm?

I’m trying to backfill my spreadsheet of Roadshow singles, but with over 5000 of them I’d prefer not to do it manually.

(Musicbrainz seems to not actually do this for individual songs in that search mode, which is irritating.)

Got to the straightest Pride I’ve ever been to, to find they’re charging adults to get in, and most of the acts aren’t being paid nor are we even getting a catering ticket.

I wish this were an isolated incident but this is yet another reason I’m holding off doing any sort of Pride shows after this one.

Tonight in the pub I had a wonderful chat with an older bloke who'd lost his wife to cancer. We bonded over love of prog rock, urban exploration, and all sorts of stuff. Conversation turned to school days and we compared notes. He asked me a couple of times where I went to school.

Eventually I mentioned the school. It's a local boy's school I went to in the 80s. And I was outed again.

He called me 'mate' after that, and I really hoped after so long it wouldn't bother me, but hey.

Onward.

I have to add, it wasn't threatening. It was just... I saw the moment on his face where it sunk in and it totally destroyed me.

I'm going to have a mug of hot chocolate now and sit with the cats, and then tomorrow is another day.

*sigh*

Me to wife: "Have you had something for lunch already?"

Wife: "Yes."

Me: *knocks up rump steak, new potatoes, cavolo nero and green beans with lardons and garlic*

Wife: "Damn you, I'm making a bacon sarnie."

So, Finland next year?
