The #Navajo Nation voices objection to obscenely rich private individuals placing #humanremains on the Moon:
'...the President of the Navajo Nation, Buu Nygren, has filed a formal objection with NASA and the U.S. Department of Transportation over what he calls an act of desecration. "It is crucial to emphasize that the moon holds a sacred position in many Indigenous cultures, including ours," Nygren wrote in a letter dated Dec. 21. "The act of depositing human remains and other materials, which could be perceived as discards in any other location, on the moon is tantamount to desecration of this sacred space." '
@pvonhellermannn I am beginning to feel that we need to 'lower our sights' and kind of assume the worst, and make survival in the face of all odds the aim -- NOT emphatically survival in bunkers at expense of others less lucky, but survival through connection, kindness, cooperation. That's the only possible form anyway.
I'm haunted by the feeling the people of Gaza are setting the example of what will be in future for dense urban populations.
Our #RussellBrand anecdote About the time of the 'Revolution' book, leftie friends were telling us to get Brand to interview us about our human origins theory (the one about women's sex-strike overthrowing dominant males, yeah LOL!). Bruce Parry had talked about it in some interview with him.
We went along to a very big socialist meeting where he was on a panel with a number of women speakers to watch because we thought his politics very flaky. We will never forget what we saw: Brand was persistently molesting the women panellist next to him, through the meeting. This was apparently funny, quite a lot of the audience were laughing at the japes, but most certainly NOT the woman who was trying to speak. This was a white man pawing and groping a black woman live in public in front of hundreds. As if to say: I'm so big, I can get away with this! #Predatory, #nonconsensual completely out of control, public assault. In fact an order of magnitude worse the Rubiales incident.
Not what you expect to see at the average Social Justice conference 😯
#Black women in the U.S. are far more likely to die from complications related to pregnancy and birth than White women. #Dana-AinDavis and #KelleyAkhiemokhali explore how the discrediting of Black #midwives helped create these racial disparities—and call for alternative models of prenatal care.
