Blows my mind you need >4GB RAM to complete the precompile assets stage of a Mastodon instance setup. Surely there is room for optimization there.
Question for someone more familiar with the Masto protocol: if an instance isn’t running in “Secure Mode”, is there still validation that federated replies, favorites etc. are genuine?
Not seeing signatures floating around debugging network activity so trying to figure this out.
How can Mastodon / the fediverse fix this? Hearing it every day.
Or does the fediverse believe this isn't something to be "fixed"?
