When I worked customer support, I learned that if I could get a customer to move from “I need this solution” to “this is my problem” I was usually able to help them better, often by suggesting something other than what they originally had in mind. Getting them from “my solution” to “my problem” wasn’t always easy.
Let’s all keep this in mind when someone says “I need this Twitter feature” that Mastodon doesn’t have.
