No podcast today. RL stuff has decided to intrude.
Will have a video tonight for y'all
The b-roll for my pinephone pro initial impressions video is 40GB. I think I turned on 4k. ffs
#2YearLinuxChallenge Check In. Day 1 of the #Gnome Challenge.
@Carnifex Nope, you're not the only one. And every time I say it in a video or on social, I get fanboys coming at me telling me how it's awesome and how I should never use Xorg again.
@sashin Some of them. Granted, I've not tried all of them yet. Tokodon seems to do okay, but I haven't been able to sign in yet as I can't get bitwarden to work and I'm too lazy to type out that password.
@korreckj328 Pinephone Pro
So after playing with the PinePhone for a few hours, I have three observations so far:
1. There's an app problem, just like you'd expect there to be.
2. Plasma Mobile is actually pretty responsive and impressive. The keyboard is very nice and while the touch responsiveness isn'tn perfect, it's way better than I thought it would be.
3. The WiFi in the PinePhone is slow af. It makes the entire experience much worse. They fix that the performance would actually be pretty decent.
Both me and my wallet are going to regret getting into retro gaming, I can just tell.
Pod finally edited. It took six hours. I liked doing the pod better when I didn't edit it, tbh.
@kirby that's a travesty.
I think the worst part about the DEs available on Linux is the way workspaces work with multiple monitors. It's really hard to move to this way of doing things when workspaces are monitor independent on every WM ever.
@dcc It's also that I have a ton of subscriptions there so it's just easier to go find that. I did use newsboat and mpv for a while, but supposedly RSS has been killed off on YT.
@dcc I watch a ton of YouTube. And I Know invidious or whatever exist, but it's just easier to go to the main site, because most of those instances are either slow af or broken af.
@dcc If qutebrowser had better ad blocking (though not as big a deal as it used to be now that I have YT premium), and it had any kind of tab groups, I'd use that in a heartbeat.
@dcc Yes, kinda, but it's not as good. With Vivaldi you get the workspaces and you get tab stacks. It's like groups inside of a group.
@dcc Workspaces. So good. And mostly worth it
The latest version of vivaldi breaks copy and paste, at least it does from a distrobox container. A bit disappointed in that.
