It's wild* how I've had clients rotting in jail as they await trial on their marijuana cases because the judges believed #marijuana to be a "danger to the public," yet #Trump remains free after being indicted in 4 separate felony cases that involve conduct where people died (January 6 insurrection) and an attempts to overthrow our country's government.
How police treat a white murder suspect who is naked and attacking them. Compare and contrast with how they treat black people who are handcuffed after a traffic stop.
Please don’t confuse what is legal with what is right. There is some overlap, of course, but not as much as one might think. Laws are generally written by the rich and powerful to protect their interests, often at the expense of the poor and weak. Many atrocities are lawful, and many acts of mercy are unlawful. I say this as an attorney.
I'm an attorney (Iowa and Illinois) who has a background in computer science. For fun I'm pursuing graduate studies in cybersecurity. My hobbies include aviation, ham radio, running, kayaking, cycling (road and mountain), martial arts (grappling and striking), and technology in general. I'm trying to reduce my use of facebook & twitter. I care quite a bit about ending police brutality and racism, and addressing the climate crisis.
