@notjustbikes not that smart so tried to find something about why this isn't (as a long term resident of japan who has never lived in tokyo) always the best and here it is: "Thus, only connections from a provincial city to the capital are fast, and the loss of province-to-province connectivity (more precisely the deemphasizing of such connections, since both Japan and France continued to build nationwide freeway networks) leads to a loss of independence in the provinces"
@BeAware sucks you went through what you did. i vaguely remember the bridgyfed stuff.
the main reason i joined threads (user #17000....) was because of its promise to federate. i have a diaspora account but never use coz don't know anyone there. about to take a break from social media but i'd prefer there be no walls and be able to use it like email or the telephone and not have to have 10 services to talk to 10 people.
@cy i have a threads account too and lots of friends/family on facebook. and know lots of local community people here where i live on instagram. then most of my old twitter mutuals moved to a mastodon server. i'd be happy to be able to communicate with them all in one space.
@cy i have a diaspora account at jasonpackman.diasp.org but rarely use it coz no one i know is actually there... people who don't want to federate can move there, i guess...
@BeAware i keep seeing you post this but i'm not that involved in the community to know what's going on? isn't the whole point of activity pub that it is open. if people want their own community shut off from everyone else. they can do that already?
@redhero not sure? i guess it would have had to have been done before the old man passed away. did he just let it be park/open space because he didn't want to deal with all that to begin with?
@jackmjenkins when Scorsese's Silence came out a friend of mine from portugal was upset the jesuits in the film spoke english. haven't seen it but shogun still has all the foreigners speaking english even though there is only one guy from england, right?
Born in California live in Kanagawa. Man of few words. Not really sure why I am here but I will sometimes post interesting photos of where I live. カリフォルニア生まれ神奈川住んで、たくさん言葉を書くより写真をウップして、僕の立場から見える景色が楽しんでください。
