It was cool-not cool to be in #Venice during one of the flood tides caused by the full moon and Sirroco winds. Both days around noon water gurgled up from the drains in San Marco Piazza and breached canal walls in many low places, including the crowded sidewalks along the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge. #Italy#AcquaAlta
Another beautifully written piece in Outside Magazine by an Alaska acquaintance who has been sailing the North Atlantic with her husband and two young boys. Crossing the area where orcas have been ramming boats “posed a whole new set of risks and responsibilities, and unveiled an issue much more complex than meets the eye.” https://www.outsideonline.com/adventure-travel/essays/orca-boat-attacks/
I was delighted to come across some polliwogs today, in a creek where I used to catch them as a little kid. Who calls them tadpoles instead of polliwogs?
I put an owl nest box up at my sister's house last winter and a pair of Western Screech-Owls moved right in this spring. She calls the female Enid and the male DoorDash since he brings her food all the time. #owls
Sure feels good to get out for morning hikes in the #Boise foothills again. I especially love the spring flowers blooming now. #wildflowers#hiking#dogs#Idaho
The most #Superb_Owl I ever met. The was Earl Grey, a Great Gray Owl I had in my care for seven years in Alaska. We traveled to many classrooms and festivals. Photographed by my friend, Ronn Murray. #owls#birds#BirdsOfMastodon
Birder, Tali’s person, Boise State alum, Master Naturalist, and blue bird living in a red state. Fourth-generation Idahoan, one-time Alaskan. Former dog musher and director of Alaska Bird Observatory, now teaching environmental education in prisons. I post photos from my walks and travels, dogs, birds, and other random things I see. Most bird photos are my husband's. #birds #BirdsOfMastodon #dogs #DogsOfMastodon #Boise #Idaho #Alaska #Caturday
