I'm gonna raise the option for increased xp and money drops later because I don't like farming, but the run won't be complete without enemies trying to obliterate me. I introduce myself to good old Igor, enjoy an ad for the party member I get a decent while from now, the context for the opening of the plot, meet Nanako and Dojima and also Marie, and shake hands with a certainly not suspicious person. Just your average beginning of the game slog.
Bad acid trip dream and battle tutorial completed. Brosuke spotted crashing his bike for the first time, and we play an exciting game of "Spot the main characters" in the classroom. Exposition about the midnight channel eventually creeps up on us, and Yosuke suffers the Trial of the Dragon, someone dies, and we meet Adachi right as he loses his lunch. I forget how much story you have to go through before the first couple fights.
@DrRyanSkelton@blueknightfrank Honestly her only crime was being too smug and overconfident for her own right. I'm pretty sure Kuon even showed up and tried dissuading her from trying her botched Re-birth ritual.
@Azur_Fenix Yeah it's real fun, Undernight is a urban fantasy fighting game kinda in the same vein as Melty Blood, though with less air mobility. It's what French Bread was working on inbetween Melty Blood titles and they're running a beta for the sequel atm.
@blueknightfrank Worth noting that the trailer shows they're also probably gonna push forward the story. Kuon is stepping away from his role as a background character into full playable status and that doesn't mean good things for a lot of people.
@blueknightfrank Linne's older brother, leader of the Night Blade, and one the Six Re-Births in the entire world. He is a true immortal who's only weakness is the blade Hyde wields. He seems to have been driving all sides of the previous game's story, being the one to nudge Hilda into pursuing the path of becoming a Re-birth and also leading Hyde into her after doing such. He's the main antagonist of the series so far as he pretty much orchestrated the events of the last game from behind the scenes.
@DrRyanSkelton I think the best part about the RPG mode is it's a good way to introduce a friend who isn't familiar with fighting games into it. Some people get real intimidated by fighting someone who's good at fighting games, so having something goofy and more casual to let them build practice on is nice.
On that note Tekken should bring back Tekken Forces. Fighting game characters tacked into beat em ups/action platformers is surprisingly fun.
@DrRyanSkelton I feel it, I'm glad this game is better and has rollback. I wanted to like this game the first time around cause it had a lot of style and charm to it but the mechanics made every match feel samey since there wasn't a lot in the way of meaningful decisions to make in a match. The handful of new mechanics really spice up matches, especially since you have something to spend meter on that isn't a super.
Online lobby is full of trampolines from the fall guys mode so you have a decent map to jump around and explore. That Pavilion you can see in the first screenshot is the main area. Praise the Watame shrine behind the main screen. Also the soccer court on the side is neat.
I just like to vibe, mostly just hang around and chat about whatevers going on, and if my muse catches me I might make Koikatsu stuff. You're also completely free to pitch ideas at me if they come your way. Though no guarantee on that.
