Privacy Lesson for today: 1. Go to Google Maps. Look up your home address. 2. Click on photo of your home. 3. Go to bottom right corner of the screen, click Report a Problem. 4. Report the image, request they blur it due to privacy concerns. You can use a throwaway email address if needed.
Running the final Privacy Fundamentals class for the year, tomorrow.
Who is this for? This class is designed for you, the non-techie, also for activists, advocates, privacy enthusiasts, OSINT beginners concerned about their digital footprint. A good refresh for seasoned professionals too.
What's included: - Understanding & evaluating digital risk - Account security - Device security & safety - Safer online searches - Secure Communications - Online abuse & protecting your data Class will be recorded.
Update: Y'all are amazing, we are 77% funded. I added in the totals of those who reached out directly.
One of my many projects is providing phones & laptops to victims of DV. That is my cause for this month. I'd love to get the rest funded, and give free access to one of my classes, Privacy Fundamentals for anyone who donates.
P.S. I wrote the first blog in a planned series on Identity Theft. It's step by step and has all the updated info to order your credit reports and freeze your credit.
If you and your son are monitoring each other's porn use you might be a Christian fundamentalist who needs actual therapist, not you and your wife's crackpot biblical bullshit. Also you might be Speaker of the House.
There is literally no reason when you're applying for jobs, freelance, or contracts why the application needs to include your real address (unless you're getting hired).
If they require one, put your local UPS store or mail center, or get a virtual PO Box, no need to give them your home address, unless you are actually hired by the company.
Additionally, use a Google Voice number or VOIP number and forward it to your phone.
Set up an email address for your job search, so you can keep track of your applications.
This is about protecting some of your data & privacy, esp from companies who will sell your data, even as an applicant (oh yes, they do).
