Though I suspect their longevity has as much to do with having socialized medicine, and producing a lot of advanced medical equipment.

Lost count of how many times I told my father about something I’d made, and got a reply along the lines of “Ever think of doing that for someone else?” To which I’d answer “No thank you, it caused too much pain the first time. And have no desire to repeat the process.”

@bruces Bringing up memories for me.
When I was young, my father had a machete he used for trimming tree branches. I think every time he sharpened it he would slice his thumb, didn’t look minor, but he’d put on a band-aid and go about hacking at the branches.

@bruces The parts all look nearly identical, so manufactured by the same person, using a stamp? Looks like interchangeable parts with different arrangements.

@bruces I’m wondering what the intended age for this is. To me it looks like it might be for teens.
OTOH, I seem to have learned to do the majority of these in just the last few years, mostly because while everyone else was making sourdough, I started making guitar effects pedals, and have had a 3D printer for a decade.
I haven’t been a teen since the late 80s

@bruces I think I’d hang it upside down, so it’s as if you’re looking up at the saucers. Right side up feels like looking down on them.
