People at certain forum discuss about X11 will be gone in the future, But that might not gonna happen.

The original may fade out, But with the design flaw that Wayland have, I highly doubt so.

Nearly everything is dealed by the compositor. That means that the compositor is also responsible for rendering, Which also means:

• The whole desktop would crash if the compositor is crashed
• If the compositor is slow, Then everything running on top of it will be affected too
• You may not notice that some compositor ended up consuming more power / resources than the real thing (your app).

Here’s an experiment:

• Kill your current compositor
• Run an compositor with cpulimit. Throttle it.
• Try use it.

With that flaw in mind, I highly doubt X11 would actually fade. It will be rebirthed instead.
