Hello, new Mastodon folks! This is a nice place overall but it does have its own culture and whatnot, and it’s not exactly like Twitter. Poke around, ask questions, watch how people comport themselves, and above all please don’t assume you’re going to get the same experience here. It’s mostly good, it’s just different.

I’m moving closer to quitting Twitter, but my stance on it is still currently what it was from the beginning, which is to say: “Why should I leave? He’s the one who sucks.”

I understand that for many people, quitting Twitter was a moral choice. I’d like to invite those people who are questioning why anyone would stay to consider that holding onto a space you worked hard to cultivate despite hostile encroachment by fascists is also a moral choice, even if it’s not the one you made.

Honestly, I’ve been guilty of this in the past, but the sheer condescension I’m seeing from some people on here about those who choose to remain on Twitter for the present for whatever reason is gross and tiresome.

You are not morally superior just because you’re here and not there.
