Mistral is preparing to take part in an EU push to build AI datacentres – labelled “AI gigafactories” – a representative of Europe’s AI hopeful said in Brussels on Tuesday.

Europe needs to compete on building frontier models and can do so with more compute, she argued. But she also criticised that the project was still partly being planned along national lines, which she suggested contributed to its slow progress.
