@popey: Sounds familiar. Did that with #Debian some years ago as performance at the #VCFe because I wanted to install the most recent version of Debian possible on a vintage #Thinkpad 760XD: Pentium MMX w/166MHz + 48 MB RAM

The big issue was that the Thinkpad did support a CD-ROM drive, but couldn't boot from it. So I had to start with the last Debian release which still supported installing from floppies: Debian 3.0 Woody

I then upgraded until Debian 8 Jessie—the last release running on a P1.

@thomasfuchs: One of the reason's why I like @mntmn's #MNTReform: Its design has something of a vintage #Thinkpad brick. Same counts for the MNT Pocket Reform: Feels like the true successor of the first #EeePC #netbook, especially those with the fat 3rd-party batteries.

@debacle: Well, IIRC my Thinkpad 760XD (from the mid 90s, similar to what is in @thomasfuchs 's picture) isn't really that much lighter.

@kainoa @atomicpoet: Why? I'm just a guest clicking on some URL, not a user of that server. Cookies shouldn't be necessary for just that or some software design has horribly gone wrong towards requiring any visitor to be trackable.

@atomicpoet: Gives a rather unhelpful error message if just simply cookies are disabled in the browser:

"Don't worry, it's (probably) not your fault." → It kinda is. Or not. Mastodon fixed that already.

"Please make sure your browser is up-to-date" → It is.

"and any AdBlockers are off." → None of your business. And they don't interfere in this case.

"If the problem persists after refreshing" → It does.

"please contact your instance's administrator." → Will they tell me to enable cookies? 🙄
