This was a new one for me. Instead of treating a weird spam/scam message as if they were a spy who missed a check in, as has been my habit, I did this:

@evan @socprof we’re not gloating, we’re pointing out they got what they sought. They got exactly what they asked for.

People who made this happen, who are responsible, I do not gloat over, and I would condemn them if they hadn’t already condemned themselves and all of us.

I am sad for everyone they hurt, including them.

Evan, with all due respect: they hurt people, including themselves. And if you can’t admit that, you’re not the clear thinking, ethical person I have come to know.

I don’t get why the rush to concede fast. If a concession is needed, it will still be needed later this week.
