@tacumi@social.pseudo-whiskey.bar note that on FreeBSD 13.0-RELEASE this appears to be broken and I've had OOM when copying large amounts of data however this problem was not seen on Linux and most likely fixed in FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE

@tacumi@social.pseudo-whiskey.bar ZFS ARC can use lots of memory, but by default it backs off when either the internal memory limit is hit or when the system memory is full so it won't affect usage

ARC also performs better than other cache because it invalidates based on usage so cache hit rate is much higher

@tacumi@social.pseudo-whiskey.bar in zfs raidz2 can survive a dual device failure, and there's an automatic replacement feature that can allow for pulling and re-inserting the drive and having it automatically replace the pulled one

it's always good practice to have redundancy, and zfs is better than hardware raid since it has great performance and doesn't rely on a specific hardware to work
