Met this little guy (total length, about 9 inches/22 cm) on my driveway pad when I almost ran him over pulling into my garage. After getting a picture, I gently coaxed him into a dustpan and deposited him into the grass. Off you go, little snake!
THIS JUST IN: Early voting has begun in Ohio, and I have voted, most notably giving "Yes" votes to Issue 1 (keep busybodies out of other people's uteruses) and Issue 2 (let my people toke). If you live in Ohio, I encourage you to vote, and also encourage you to give "Yes" votes to Issues 1 and 2.
@jsj Ohioans voted for non-partisan redistricting via voter initiative, and the Ohio GOP subverted it, hence the legal challenges that found the redistricting unconstitutional. When it was found so, the GOP literally ignored it. So that's how well suing went here. There will be a new redistricting voter initiative on the ballot to take it out of political party hands completely, but not until 2024.
@jsj The people of OH-4, specifically. Please also note that Ohio is unconstitutionally gerrymandered, so our incidence of genuinely shitty politicians is higher than it might otherwise be.

Okay, so, remember when I did a poll here about whether or not you all wanted Mastodon to be the new home of my burrito-related crimes, and you said "yes" by a 96% - 4% margin?
Just remember that. You asked for this.
With that said:
Today's burrito: Mashed potatoes, American Cheese, Cholula, Coho salmon in a honey-mustard glaze, sweet relish, and Manwich-slathered ground beef.
She was troubled and erratic and brilliant and one of the indelible voices of my generation, and she was fucking right about the Catholic Church, for all the good it did her in this life. Genius doesn’t make for an easy life, but genius she was, and I’m glad that for a time she got to express her particular strain of genius in this world. May she rest well.
My favorite spam messages are the ones purporting to be from the Scalzi domain IT department, telling me I need to forward on all my bank information or my email will be cut off (or whatever). Well, I know the Scalzi domain IT department, right now he's wearing the same bathrobe as I am, and he says otherwise. Whom to believe?!?
