Had an amusing little flash, a fully decentralized riff on the #fediverse. Where each member account brings their storage and compute resources to the party. The more storage and compute resources your bring, the higher on the hit parade list your membership goes, giving you weighted priority in storage and processing. The more you bring, the more you get. I have absolutely no idea how, but god, I’m waiting with baited breath for someone to tell me this will never ever work and I’m a ninny.

Over this week I’ll be moving 8.7TB in 4 million files that my 228 coworkers have created and stored on my nearly ten year old #Windows2012R2 server. Then on Friday migrating #AD to a new server. During all of this, all the folks from the branches out there will converge in #Kalamazoo. There will be lots of visits and talk. This is my professional peak for 2024. @BeAware I remember life before all of this. It seems a different lifetime, like recalling scenes shot through a lens lightly treated with Vaseline for the old timey effect. I remember people weren’t quite this alienated from each other. Perhaps it’s just nostalgia and age. Without the Internet, I’d have likely gone into some sort of counseling profession, or I would be a chef maybe. Work for #WorldCentralKitchen if they’d have me.

I got a notice of someone out in the world trying to hack into my Borgsite account. That’s my pejorative term for Facebook. Discarded the code to reset my password and logged in. The service immediately let me know that a Fediverse link I posted countless moons ago was removed for #Spam. I smirked to myself, and then logged out and closed the tab in my browser on my phone.

I am missing nothing by abandoning #Facebook. Absolutely nothing.

Once you run, and your term is up, you cannot touch any other elected office for the rest of your life. Lifetime ban on lobbying. Violations of this rule are ten years in a supermax prison. General population. That would fix so so much.

@evan I would want them to. Project 25 has a section where people like me would be rounded up and put in internment camps. I fully expect to be lined up and shot shortly thereafter. So, I would ask that they at least consider it to help me and my family remain alive. It’s what I’m asking everyone who will listen. I don’t want to be executed.

Discovered that if you follow a bot account, and you create a list called Bots and you add it to that list, and you turn the “In List Off Home” feature, if that bot account is set for notifications, you won’t get them! Enlisted accounts set for notification apparently have to be on Home. I’m sure it is written down somewhere, in the piles of text that nobody reads. LOL. At some point, I’ll have to look at incinerating an entire day on the altar of the awful #ActivityPub plugin for #WordPress. It won't work, because my host is incompetent, but maybe with an updated version of WordPress and maybe figuring out how to upgrade PHP to whatever it should be might... hahahahahah fix it. HA HA HA. It's just more wasted time in a field of pointlessness. God damn #blog. I wish I never encountered #WordPress. But, here we are. Trapped.

@nddentico They removed one of my posts that was a link to a Mastodon post. Declared it Spam, then wagged the community standards in my face. I wrote a goodbye, set it public, pinned it to the top, closed the app and deleted it.

@feditips Although sometimes you’ll see people you don’t follow, have no hashtags, and otherwise wouldn’t be in your Home feed. You’ll likely scroll right past it, and at this stage, nothing in your immediate environment is on fire, so you just shrug and scroll on… ;)

#Microsoft #Teams on #IOS apparently has a whole "Shake to Send Feedback" option. I'm sitting here, futzing about in Teams on the dumb chunk, and Feedback just pops up over and over. I get more irked as I go. My feedback, if I were to write it starts to darken. But I stop myself, before I do a hasty, and then a little dialog box appears, "You might have triggered this by accident, do you want to turn it off?"

And then I took a little bit and laughed. It's Microsoft. Obviously.

The usual Saturday chores are on. First stop, the Cathedral to Volume. #costco! Gonna have to drag across town because every store only has a few things we need. Yeah, a trip to #meijer where we try not to dwell on the filth inside. Then the bougie market, #FreshThyme. This is how I murder my weekends. #today
