@Are0h as a librarian, I've been particularly aware of the targeted attacks on public libraries, on materials that even vaguely tackle racism and white supremacy, on programming and materials to support queer community members, on workers themselves...
I do feel joy in the sparks of success, in seeing where communities come together or resist it and overcome harms.
I'm not actually deleting my Twitter acct for a couple reasons, significantly because that stops someone else from setting up with that username.
But when I occasionally double post, I do so manually, which I recommend.
But, importantly, if you're cross-posting then definitely don't boost people's posts there and seriously consider not RTing posts from there over here.
People will start blocking you if you don't. And that'll make this place less fun for you.
and/but/also consider whether the posts you're cross-posting here make it clearly look like you're just putting them here for content, because a lot of ways people do crossposting look like that. Lots of little things that make it look like the tag-end of your posts.
You don't have to simulpost, just copy-paste the most thoughtful threads at another time, even! You can copy your post content in most apps here.
Also, here's some useful fedi info, #Feditip Swap https://nitter.net/ for twitter.com and you can get the basic same content! So if you really really want to embed something interesting, you can do it!
That's what Nitter was originally for, accessing tweets without having to deal with the whole immediate popup of "you're not logged in" stuff. I use it rarely, but it can be helpful to remember it's out there.
FWIW I also have a filter up for "@twitter.com" which is gonna filter this out probably which is fine. But it helps me both avoid cross-posted RTs and when you're posting in a way which makes it clear you're interested in engaging folks on Twitter.
So if you're over here and trying to figure out how to avoid it without blocking folks, that's another way!
Or "RT @"
Use your instance's URL /filters to get there if you're not yet familiar!
