What app do folks recommend for Mastodon these days?
I’ve been using Ice Cubes. I like it except that the feed doesn’t auto-refresh, so I have to manually scroll up every time I open the app. (Unless I did something wrong w/settings?)

Tip to students: If you run into a paywall trying to read an article, ask a librarian for help! Many public and school libraries have newspaper and magazine access, and some university libraries even have free subscriptions or app access for students.
Both fears and cheers for medical AI are not quite getting it. Of all the fields AI could take over, we should hope healthcare would be one of the last. We are vastly underestimating the importance of human contact in care work.
I don’t know how to explain it, but time works differently in airports. 5 minutes and 5 hours are somehow the same. Your flight is delayed but arrives early. The carpets are from 1980. The water machines are from 2045. It is always happy hour. You have always been in the airport.
I love the internet :bongoCat:
The explosion in growth for Mastodon, including among mainstream, non-tech users, is genuinely exciting. That an open-source, interoperable, nonprofit-driven protocol could reach this kind of success is incredible. The future looks bright ❤️

Excellent overview of #privacy, #security, and #accessibility on #Mastodon, by @themarkup https://themarkup.org/the-breakdown/2022/11/21/we-joined-mastodon-heres-what-we-learned-about-privacy-and-security
Highlights:
? Check your server’s privacy policy, as each server has its own rules.
? Watch out w/DMs. Direct messages are not end-to-end encrypted and can be read in full by server admins. Also, anyone you tag in a DM will be able to view it.
? Remember to turn on 2-factor authentication.
? Add alt-text to caption your images and help make this place accessible for all!
Tried posting with a #ContentWarning filter on a political post for the first time. So far it doesn’t seem to have resulted in decreasing reach and engagement too much?
@cathygellis @mmasnick @neil It did feel weird to CW politics when so much of what I post is related to tech policy, which is inherently political ??♀️
@Gargron wow! impressive that things have been so functional with that rapid growth!
