I didn’t like irc due to toxicity & harassment so I left, despite having & making tons of friends there.
I didn’t like Facebook, especially the racism, so I stopped posting there.
I have posted a couple hundred posts on Instagram, thirst traps & cat pics & food mostly.
I never liked Twitter either, but reporters would use it to find me & it served to help get my expertise out in the news.
I tried posting a family holiday meal toot here hashtagged with Thanksgiving & was immediately informed by someone who doesn’t even follow me & isn’t on the same mastodon instance that I should have put a CW on it in case my food pics upset a vegetarian. I deleted it.
Honestly I don’t know if I’ll ever post that much anywhere ever again. I don’t have time.
It seems immediately tone-policey here. And block-splainey. At least that’s been my experience so far. Honeys, I know how to block & mute. I’m likely much older than you & have deep lived experience in being harassed online from the very first places one could be harassed online. Please don’t give me unsolicited advice. Ever.
It’s just as well. I’m very tired & I don’t see the point of posting in a brand new place for misogyny to find me, harass me, then pile more well-meaning or ill-meaning explainers-of-how-the-Internet-works Reply Guys into my mentions.
I’ll post whatever the fuck I want, where I want, & I’m not obligated to respond to anything.
If you need to reach me for my work, email info@Lutasecurity.com & if you’re a member of the press, press@Lutasecurity.com is where I will always direct you, even if you have my Signal number.
Why?
Because I’m a CEO & a mom & I do not have time to route & schedule your requests. Boundaries are healthy & I’m happy to remind anyone of mine.
Happy Sunday & may your boundaries be respected by all.
