Sorry, international fixers, shipping limits mean this one’s US only, but we’d still love to hear your stories!

Apple finally folded. The iPhone Duo lands October 23, so here's how it stacks up against the Galaxy Z Fold8 on paper. The spec that's missing? Repairability. We'll fill that in when we get our hands on one.

POV: you're an X-ray and the iPhone 18 Pro has no secrets. @lumafield

This fall, Apple will be cutting off millions of iPads from future OS updates. The solution seems obvious: Let us install a different operating system.

This is already an option for Macs, but it's not for iPads. Couple this with how difficult these tablets are to repair and you've got a big problem for people who want to keep their iPads running past their expiration date. We think there's room for improvement. Read more at the link below.

Last year, we worked with Logitech to bring you more guides, parts, and solutions for all your broken tech. Fast-forward to today and Logitech repair content has been viewed more than five million times on our site.

It's clear that people are looking for ways to repair instead of replace. From office essentials like mice and keyboards to headsets and speakers, our job is to make sure fixing your devices is an easy and accessible option. Read more at the link below.

At #defcon ? Come say hi at the front of vendor hall! We have new shirts, a custom iFixit SAO, and much more 👀

It's heartbreaking when your favorite console dies. But this doesn't have to be the end. With the right guides, a few tools, and some tips and tricks from our friend Camran (IG: superlevelz), nothing should stand in the way of you booting up those classic games.

If your soldering technique includes holding your breath and leaning sideways, we have a project for you.

That wispy smoke coming off your iron is vaporized rosin flux, which irritates your eyes and lungs and isn't something you want to be breathing for years. Our DIY fume extractor pulls it into an activated carbon filter instead, and it's built from a cardboard box, a spare 12V computer fan, a few zip ties, a switch, and a 9V battery.

Replaceable batteries are not a fantasy, companies just needed a legal shove. EU rules are pushing Nintendo and Amazon toward more repairable devices, from Switch hardware with replaceable batteries to signs of Kindle battery replacement kits and guides.

That does not mean the fight is over. Parts pairing, lockouts, and loopholes are still very real. But every replaceable battery is one more crack in the throwaway tech model. Learn more at the link below.

For more than a decade, farmers have been fighting for the right to fix the machines they own. Now, the FTC settlement with John Deere marks a massive win! Deere must give farmers and independent repair shops access to the same repair software, manuals, and repair capabilities it provides to authorized dealers.

This is what Right to Repair looks like when it moves from principle to enforcement. The work is not over, but this is a big step. Learn more at the link below.

Happy Father’s Day to the dads and father figures who taught us to look closer before giving up.

To save the tiny screws. To check the cable first. To believe a broken thing is usually just a problem waiting to be understood.

Thanks for the patience, the hand-me-down tools, and the quiet confidence that comes from figuring things out together.

For everyone asking how close the Trump Phone is to the HTC U24 Pro, here’s the inside view.

The answer is: very.

The internals line up almost part for part, down to the board layout, cameras, shields, cables, and battery placement. This is what a rebrand looks like when the back cover comes off.

You can rebrand a phone.
You can paint it gold.
You can rewrite the marketing.

But when you put it next to an HTC U24 Pro in a CT scanner, the disguise falls apart pretty fast.

First NBC News spotted the resemblance. Then they brought the Trump Phone to our San Luis Obispo office so we could get past the gold paint.

CT scans and a full teardown confirmed it: the T1 is nearly identical to the HTC U24 Pro. Same internals. Same layout. Same story, just with a louder outfit. Check out the full blog below and their teardown on YouTube!

Today, Amazon effectively kills support for older Kindles. Not because the screens stopped working. Not because the batteries all died. Because Amazon decided perfectly usable e-readers should be cut off from the services that made them useful. That is not innovation. That is forced obsolescence with a checkout button. Sign PIRG’s petition and tell Amazon to stop bricking working Kindles.

The Fairbuds XL just became the first headphones to earn a 10/10 repairability score on our new headphone scorecard! Replaceable battery. Replaceable ear pads. Modular design. Actual repair manuals. This is what headphones look like when they’re built to last instead of built for the landfill.

A failing battery leads to frustration.

Frustration leads to upgrades.

Upgrades lead to… unnecessary spending.

Some devices aren’t hard to repair by accident—they’re built that way. These design choices block access, add risk, and push you toward replacement instead of repair. That’s not innovation. That's planned obsolescence.

Which one annoys you the most?
