#Tariffs will make almost every new piece of technology more expensive. That means repairing the devices you own will make even more sense than buying new.
However, replacement parts will also become more expensive. 🧵

Yep, the Switch 2 Joy-Cons will probably still drift because Nintendo isn't using Hall effect sensors. So, if you were thinking about upgrading, it might make more sense to swap out the joysticks in your current Joy-Cons. It's easier than you might think—and a lot more affordable.

This #WITDay, we're celebrating Martine Postma. She's the activist and former journalist who started the Repair Café movement.
“I wanted to do more than just write about it,” Postma says. “More and more people don’t feel good about our throw-away society and are ready for change. [They] don’t throw away because they want to, but because they don’t know what else to do.”

It's #WorldBackupDay! It's much easier to back up your data while you can than try to recover it when you can't.
We hope you take this opportunity to back up your important data, and back up that backup, too!
This Global #Recycling Day, let’s talk about our favorite way to reduce waste: repair!
Recycling is inefficient, complex, and time consuming. It should be the very last step in a long line of alternatives. While Reduce and Reuse are the best options, we think the missing R is Repair.
Here's why: https://www.ifixit.com/Right-to-Repair/Recycling

Hello everyone! We got a huge influx of followers thanks to @FediFollows, and were wondering: what content would you like to see?
Some examples are guides, gadget guts, CT scans, short-form videos, community content, and behind-the-scenes at iFixit, but we're open to (almost) everything.
Let us know!
@FediFollows Thanks for the shout out!
Our goal is to be the free repair guide for every thing to create a more repairable (and therefore sustainable) future.
If you want to learn more about what we do, we've got a whole page dedicated to just that: https://www.ifixit.com/about-us
We're happy to be here! 🔧
Happy #Mario Day!
To celebrate, we teamed up with
@adafruit to dig into the guts of the #Nintendo #Alarmo clock.
Together, we're answering all your burning questions: Is it repairable? Will it run DOOM??
What do these all have in common?
Keurig coffee makers
HP printers
GE refrigerators
John Deere tractors
Apple iPhones
Parts pairing!
Each of these products has a history of restricting which parts or supplies can be used with it.
Let's talk specifics. (1/2)
Peripherals are often the unsung hero of our computing life, but they're usually replaced, rather than repaired.
To help combat this, we're expanding our partnership with Logitech to add replacement parts and guides for 20+ products across 62 countries, now available at https://iFixit.com/Logitech.
@mntmn That's wild, the Pocket Reform is about as deep as our drivers are long 🤯
@mia @mametsuko Hello!
Currently taking comfort in the fact that this fella is blissfully unaware of all the things in the world that need fixing, and also that those things can be fixed 🔧
"If you couldn’t replace the tires in your car, you wouldn’t buy a car.
But overwhelmingly, lithium batteries have become glued in, and that’s just not viable.
Right now, the lifespan of a thing is the life of the shortest-lived component: the battery."
