A dozen or so University of Minnesota Police officers wearing riot gear and holding batons have been standing in the lobby of the Graduate Hotel as a noise demonstration occurs outside protesting ICE agents who are reportedly staying there. The main protest is done but dozens are still making noise.

NEW: An elder man was shot with pepper balls and arrested by federal agents after protesting ICE in the driveway of the Whipple Federal Building around 2 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2026. The man's car was driven into the parking lot by a DHS agent and then a tow truck came and took the car away. The Whipple Building near the MSP-Intl Airport is where ICE holds immigrant detainees and protesters.
