Austin police shot and killed Anthoneil Williams II, 17 years old. He called 911 on himself from a playground at 3:51am. 34 minutes later, officers gave him five seconds to comply, then opened fire—then fired again.

20+ rounds. No taser. No pepper spray. No mental health responder.

The "weapon" was a water bottle. No gun was ever found.

One answer no pro unlimited police budget sycophant will admit is that SCOTUS has repeatedly ruled that police have no legal duty to protect us. None.

This sad fact is why we repeat that investing in public safety does not mean more police—it means more money for healthcare, education, housing, & social services. Safer communities come from investing in people—not punishments.

I won’t share the video of the public execution by police of a yet unnamed Black man in Madison, WI.

With four white Madison cops on him, one cop pulled out his firearm and shot the victim in the head at least three times at point blank range. This is a public execution. It is barbaric and indefensible. And it happened blocks away on the same street as in 2015 when a white cop shot and killed a Black man named Tony Robinson.

Three weeks ago it was Kohen Wiley.

Two weeks ago it was Nolan Wells.

This week it is Corey Ruiz.

This is unsustainable and indefensible.

Sending all the love and prayers to the families of all three and more. May they bear these losses with patience and receive the justice they deserve.😓

Watched Nolan Wells’ funeral today. Listened to his parents share the hopes their son had, and the dreams they had for him. They’re patiently enduring a pain no parent should have to endure. Trump says he wants to “hold Canada accountable” for the smoke from Canadian wildfires.

One, I thought climate change was a Chinese hoax? Guess not huh?

Two, it’s Trump’s own fault. He spent so much time obsessing over a wall with Mexico, he forgot to build a wall with Canada.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 😅

Trump claims an investigation found that people could “Change votes on a deep level that could not be detected even with a deep audit,” and that ,”There are 278,000 foreigners illegally registered to vote.”

This is just making up ish. There’s zero evidence of this. A reminder that Trump shut down not one but two of his own voter fraud commissions because they found no evidence of fraud, and that he filed 61 lawsuits after 2020 and lost all 61 because he could offer no evidence of fraud.

It’s correct to be angry that so many Democrats voted to send $3.3B more to Israel as they commit genocide of Palestinians.

But recognize this: An unprecedented 104 Democratic members of Congress — a majority — voted to stop funding Israel’s genocide. That is a major shift. It’s been made possible by countless progressives activating and organizing. Progress is slow but it is happening. Keep the pressure on. Let’s go ❤️✊🏽

Justice Amy Coney Barrett says she "didn't know how to explain to her child that she has to wear a bullet proof vest to work." As a parent myself, here's my suggestion of what to say:

"Mommy is one of the 9 most powerful judges in America, and at every chance to help protect meaningful gun safety legislation, I've chosen the extremely reckless and stupid decision of expanding gun access, even to violent sociopaths, thus putting your and my life in abject danger—but that's the price of freedom."

Chicago doesn't own its parking meters. Mayor Daley sold them in 2008. Now pro-ICE firm Stonepeak Partners wants what remains of the lease for $2.53 billion. Stonepeak owns Omni Airlines—the company ICE uses to run deportation flights. Alderpeople are fighting to stop this deal.
