    @georgia @lizzie @lillian I totally get why someone would be quaker, but I just love the sacraments so much. The idea of God becoming tangible to us and meeting us through physical means really means a lot to me.

    @lillian yeah secular pluralism I think is genuinely the best way for any religion to flourish because I think it allows people to actually pursue God by their own free will instead of religion just being some rule book put onto them. That's why I think the whole 10 commandments and Bible readings in classrooms being enforced by the US government is a bad idea. Forcing people to become Christian doesn't actually make more Christians, It just makes more Anti-Christians.

    @scathach when we venerate a relic, we are not doing it out of believing that saint or object has any power of it's own. We believe that God works through these means. The same way that Christ worked through things like mud and spit to heal, Christ can work through these things also. We also have examples like from Acts 19:12 where someone uses a rag that touched the apostle Paul to heal someone. These saints were so full of God's grace, that even touching their bodies is enough to disperse blessing.

    @georgia @kon @lillian We receive the Holy Spirit by being baptized is the traditional view by basically All Christians besides Baptist and other evangelical like groups. I think they believe you receive it by simply believing the Gospel. (Of course with all things this has nuance. The holy Spirit can still work though the non baptized)

    @kon so like do anglo-caths believe in sola/prima scriptura and Sola-fide or are they actually just theologically Catholic and hide out in the Anglican church cuz they don't agree with papal infallibility or are too woke to be Catholic

    @georgia The Catholic Church has never formally taught that baptized babies go to hell. The most harsh view that some older theologians taught was that their MIGHT have existed some kind of "limbo" area they went to, but that was never really official Church teaching. Basically no normal Catholic believes unbaptized babies go to hell.

    @subnetter @anemone @georgia I have literally never heard anybody say anything about the pope not properly blessing the world leading to the Russian Ukraine war. That's most likely just some crazy ultra trad-catholic slop that the church and any normal priest would never actually teach.
