Anglican: "I'm an ex-Evangelical who read the church fathers but I'm still too scared to convert to Catholicism"
Orthodox: "idk I heard this Church was based and homophobic on tiktok so I started going because I thought it would be cool."
Catholic: "Either I literally don't care at all about the Church and just go here because I'm Italian/Irish or I'm a radicalized 14 year old who's obsessed with the crusades"
Methodist: "I go here because my family has always went here and also I'm kinda woke"
Lutheran: "I go here because my family has always went here and also I'm kinda woke"
Evangelical: "I go here because they worship Trump and I looooveee Trump"
Unitarian Universalist: "I literally hate Christianity lol I just go here because it's woke and they do cool charity work"
@lizzie and so many people aren't even taught about the sacraments. Like 60% of Catholics in the US don't even believe the Eucharist is truly Christ. Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if some of that was chalked up to poor catechesis. I think a problem in a lot of high church traditions is that people treat it as more of a "cool family tradition" rather then, uh, literally eating God and being a member of the kingdom of heaven.
@lizzie honestly I really wish more churches would just offer theology classes. Like not just to converts and kids but just for people in the Parish. Cuz let's be honest, most cradle Christians are not catechized well. The Epicopal cathedral I've been to a few times actually does this after the Church service which I think is very based and is something every Church should do.
This website is an awful way of reading the Bible lol but I really like the NAB translation because it's a pretty accurate and scholarly translation of the Bible that's packed with a bunch of Catholic commentary on each chapter. I have an actual copy of it so I would recommend picking one of those up instead of just reading off this website. Also people say the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible is really good but I haven't really read it. They have copies of that just containing the New testament as well if that's more of what you are looking for.
Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”
The disciple's goofy comic relief Dog sidekick: "Geez Jesus, that sounds pretty... RUFF!"
@jackie you see sometimes you make posts about praying and Catholic stuff and I think that you might be a Christian and then you post stuff like this and suddenly I'm not so sure
