This is the last big project in my backlog: NGC 281, a.k.a., the Pacman Nebula in HOS narrowband.
For the uninitiated, HOS means:
- Red = hydrogen
- Green = oxygen
- Blue = sulphur
I decided to play off of the Pacman name and use a palette that gave the nebula a nice golden yellow color.

Another pic that's been in the backlog for a while. This is NGC 7139, a.k.a., the Small Cluster Nebula or the Rosebud Nebula. This is a reflection nebula about 3,300 light-years away, and captured in "true color".
I was hoping to collect a lot more data on this one, but the weather has thwarted me (at least for this year).
Details:
- Celestron 8" EdgeHD (w/ 0.7x reducer) + ZWO ASI585MC
- 126x180s (6.3 hr) UV+IR cut
- Bortle 6/7
- PixInsight w/ BlurX, NoiseX, and StarX

Because it was so smoky out last night and I barely got enough signal to do anything with, I decided to take some artistic liberties with the end product instead of worrying about accuracy or whatever.
Behold, the Lobster Claw Nebula (SH 1-109, left), the Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635, right), and NGC 7538 (bottom)

Here's a capture I never got around to until now:
A great big plasma eruption I caught on Sept 7, 2024 — 1 of 6
This is 3.2 hours worth of images condensed down to 14.6 seconds (790x).
I took forever to process this, but at least I learned some new tricks along the way that significantly improved the quality of the end result. I almost want to go back and re-do some of my other solar timelapses because it's such an improvement.

I finished up processing what I got from the Mars occultation on Monday night.
Here's a timelapse of Mars disappearing.

Got some good data on comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) last night, but still working on processing it.
Something about comets that's not obvious is that they move, and it's not a trivial amount over an hour. So processing isn't as simple. I'm still learning how to do it.
Here's a 30 minute timelapse from last night to show what I mean. Also, satellites suck.
(Bonus shot of the M5 cluster in the background)
