In the interest of transparency, here is the estimate from Charlene's vet.

Charlene has been not herself and just nibbled on food for a couple days—something's wrong. This Spring, she had a GI infection that began with the same symptoms.

This morning, I took her to the vet, but they wouldn't diagnose or treat her without a large down-payment on the estimated bill.

A very kind FediFriend donated the down payment, and Charlene will go to the vet in the morning.

Vet's total estimate for diagnosis and treatment is between $485 (covered by a FediFriend's donation) and $920.

I admit: I have no idea what all this GOOSE business is about.

I grew up in the 60's and 70s South in a culture in which deference to authority was a given. Wondering today how that affected my reaction to/compliance with authority figures in my life, relatives mostly, who abused me as a kid.

We weren't taught about consent, and what adults might try to do to us, and any attempted discussion of the abuse with adults was silenced, quickly. Secrets.

I was the perfect victim.
