🚧 We have some problems with our search engine. I tried to solve this using conventional methods, but it didn't work. Because we are a radical server I'm going to fix it the radical way. That means purging elasticsearch (the search engine), purge its database files and reinstall/reconfigure it. I already did this on todon.nl during the 4.2 upgrade, so it should work like a charm.

After that the search index need to be recreated. That will take approximately 1 to 2 days.

In the mean time we only have basic search. Thanks for your understanding.

🚧 Bad news. The solution I thought should work, didn't work. All worked fine with re-installing, but the same problem occurred. It stops every time with indexing.

What now? The next two days I don't have the time to find a solution, like asking some experts. So I will add a half-baked workaround. Two times per day I will let the system index manually. Hopefully this will soften the pain until I find a solution.

🆕 A week ago todon.eu was offline, because of connection issues in our datacenter. Although we have a status page with UptimeRobot, it has a difficult to remember URL, plus there is no way our admin (me) can leave a message with what's going on. Until now!

There are so many new things, so I advise you to carefully read the changelog at https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/releases/tag/v4.0.0.

? But ... there is one major change you should know about and you probably have to refresh your webbrowser tab to see it. Mastodon now has a unified web-app. That means that the dynamic and public static pages are now merged. So less confusion.

? What you will see in the changelog is !translations!. Yes, but that needs to be configured first on the server side. So I will do that later.

⚠️ If you see something completely weird, first refresh your browser tab, purge your browser cache and re-open your browser. If still something is completely wrong, send me please a direct message.

⌚ So what am I going to do? First I need found out what's changed for admins and I also need to (as said before) re-customize some things. The latter will probably sometimes give a very short outage, but only in the web-app. No worries.
