Remember when children downloading MP3s to just jam out in the pre-streaming era were sued into oblivion? And now AI companies training on vast libraries of pirated, copyrighted data can just do that without repercussions.

The law never applies to those with money to evade it.

Ad density and layout on some of the publishers I used to enjoy are getting so bad that I don’t have any qualms whatsoever anymore about ad blocking.

This is wildly disrespectful to readers. And worse, imagine the experience for those on zoomed-in or older devices with smaller 16:9 displays!

@SaareMartha @cstross now I’m imagining that all Scottish pubs are somehow one very long pub with multiple regional entrances and exits. A single, continuous, rambling, inter-dimensional pub.

And wherever you are in the pub, that one dude will eventually find you.

I hope enough forward-thinkers were paying attention to WWDC. Because Apple just invalidated most of the AI hype in investment circles.

Yes, Apple is going all-in on AI features. But that's the thing: they are FEATURES.

AI isn't a product in itself. This is a watershed moment in the same sort of way that data analytics were, and we are gonna see AI happen to every single thing from here on out. But you aren't gonna buy an AI box or pin or any other magically wishful novel product category.
