I've just learned that some of these #kathmandu fires are the houses of politicians. "Protesters set fire to the house of Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung in Lalitpur." And there are others.

It’s weird to be in #Kathmandu without the sounds of horns and motorbikes. The fires are large enough that I can clearly see the smoke 4-5 kilometers north - in vicinity of the city’s main governmental sites. And my office now smells like burning tires.

After killing 19 protesters yesterday, the Prime Minister refuses to resign. So the streets remain dangerous today.

As we approach evening, #Kathmandu burns in every direction. The clouds hide behind the dark smoke. Occasionally one hears the distant popping of tear gas canisters - but it has become intermittent. The busy streets are empty save for an occasional motorcycle and roaming groups of young men.

News has just broken that the Prime Minister resigned.

Friends of mine in #Kathmandu have lost electricity. Power outages are not unknown to residents here but this is probably not a coincidence.

Indeed - the protests in #Kathmandu have only intensified as the night falls. I’m hearing more gunshots but also more cries of jubilation now that so many of the perpetrators of yesterday’s massacre were confronted (sometimes captured) by the mob.

New fires continue to spread in the center of the city.

The #Nepal Parliament is engulfed in flames. And the taller building to its west could be the Kantipur Media building. Every story has been consumed by fire.

Further to the north even larger fires are starting.

The fires are intensifying in some parts of the city.

Police have clashed with protesters at this police station for the last two hours. In the last 30 minutes I’ve heard more gun shots and the smoke has intensified.

Protestors have taken many police stations which hold unjustly compounded citizen motorcycles and cars.

The Chicagoland legend who invented the BBS has passed. Plenty of late nights dialing into Zeller Zone or Bear Whiz listening to Wax Trax! records pressed in the Windy City. I went to the Living Computer Museum two or three times. Once I even got to go through the collections in the back. It was really incredible. There was nothing like it - including the larger Heinz Nixdorf museum in Germany and the more famous and older Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley.
