I've spent the last month really going back to basics and trying to learn programming properly end-to-end. It's been really fun to revisit everything I've learned previously and actually do a deeper dive into all those things I didn't really understand (like memory management and FP principles). If it weren't for economic uncertainty, I'd highly recommend being laid off.

Hello, Ireland. Long time, no see.

I wonder how many programmers who are amazed by Copilot/ChatGPT just aren't using a proper IDE. Switching to Jetbrains tools (with AI disabled, of course) has been like getting imbued with 2x the knowledge I actually have in a language.

I've started learning Rust. One comment so far: the book is excellently written. Very clear and easy-to-follow in a way I've not found with most languages.

Rust itself is a little verbose and concepts like lifetimes continue to mystify me a bit, but I've actually managed to write some small things without too many issues.

Okay. I understand how ORMs work now.

I don't know why I stayed on Digital Ocean for so long. Hetzner is just miles better for the price.
