There is always a bit of selfish sadness in me when I don't apply to a speaking or writing gig because I take its existence for granted. "I will do it for the next one", only for that thing to cease to exist. I should have learned from the pandemic that there are fewer spots every year.

I’ve been thinking: now, more than ever, it’s the safest and best time to be yourself when designing your personal website.
If every job application is going to be ignored by the awful process it gets sent to, then might as well go bananas on a personal website?
Why keep your content as merely a “professional outlet” if you always wanted more but were afraid?
People are craving real content now more than ever. We are burned out from our screens, yes… But we’re here.

Today was a good day. Daughter got offered a place in our first choice of school and I successfully added a new SSD and added Linux mint to my very old laptop.
Tomorrow: sewing and writing day.

People who have stopped using GitHub or GitLab: what did you replace it with?

My local library hosted a plant swap where you could bring cuttings, plants or seeds and exchange them for a different plant. 🪴
I gave five cuttings with roots from my pothos and returned with aloe vera and a flamingo plant. What a win! Libraries are awesome 💚

If you want a blog but don’t believe you have anything to share, I suggest creating a monthly post of a roundup of articles you read and recommend.

By the end of the year, you will have 12 blog posts.

It gives you a list of everything you’ve learned.

It is easily findable if you want to share it with others in conversation.

Backlinks and webmentions build connections.
