*the glitter in the green: in search of hummingbirds, jon dunn (2021)

*the backyard bird chronicles, amy tan (2024) - new to birding, stories & sketches (memoir)

*the courage of birds, peter dunne (2024)-- straightforward account of their survival instincts (not one of his humor books, i was told he lost the ability to make jokes when he had a stroke? but still a good read)

i normally avoid photographing birds from behind but with the Shining Sunbeam (the actual English common name of this hummingbird), the iridescent rainbow of color on the back is a field mark

whoever authorized & installed the use of the AI system should be ticketed & sued for allowing an AI to call the cops on a child for eating Doritos

admittedly, we've had some evil POTUS just in my lifetime, much less in history, but Jackson was a leading proponent of genocide, disappearance, & displacement of whole peoples so... if he displaced & killed fewer than 45, is it not because there were fewer people resident in North America to be killed in his day? it sure wasn't for lack of trying...

i have photo'd 50 species of hummingbird but for #Fotomontag #PhotoMonday i'd like to address the issue of how sometimes you can only get a bad photo

like this guy, we had ONE place where we could see Royal Sunangel but birb didn't show up until the glare of high noon with pollen on the head (not a gold crown)

with rare birds sometimes a bad photo is better than no photo tho ...
