Ro started by attacking Indigenous people and Latine people and Muslims.

Ro pivoted to attacking transfeminine people.

Now Ro is attacking disabled people.

Ro is a bigot and a coward.

This abuse is strategic. It's only ever directed towards extremely vulnerable groups that Ro knows they can get away with hurting.

This is what Ro does.

I'm sure there are thousands of white men who say that slur, every day.

People with more social power, who say the slur on purpose.

Ro doesn't go after any of them.

Ro goes after the disabled guy, based on some quirk of his neurology.

Ro joins in on the massive hate campaign, spreading misinformation and abuse against disabled people.

Because Ro is a fucking coward.

This is not a complicated issue, and Ro is a smart person.

You apologize for a car accident or for accidentally bumping somebody, because those things are accidents. They are actions that are in some way negligent, while also being unintentional.

Tics are not voluntary. Tics are not negligent. Tics are a 100% involuntary aspect of a certain type of neurology.

It is not okay to demand that a disabled person apologize for their neurotype.

Ro is demanding that a disabled person apologize for able-bodied people's fear of disabled people's bodies.

In this case, that fear is absolutely sympathetic. It is genuinely true that harm was caused.

But that doesn't mean that these demands for apologies and Tourette's denialism are not obvious and intentional bigotry.

You apologize for things you had agency over.

You do not apologise for who you are.

You do not apologize because somebody is afraid of your body.

And Ro is in on the Toruette's denialism.

Or something.

I haven't been talking much about Ro because, to my knowledge, Ro hasn't been attacking random trans women more than the baseline amount recently.

Which is good.

I wish Ro would take down their transphobic harassment/stalking website, and it's pretty obvious what their motivations are until they do, but things being "pretty quiet" is good.

The chat itself was disappointing.

It was weird.

Ro refused to actually talk about transphobia or racism.

Like they thought that they could "win" by being more macho than me or trying to find some technicality?

So the whole thing was them calling me a coward for not unblocking them (they weren't blocked).

Or them calling me a coward for taking five minutes to respond to one of their rants.

Or them calling me a coward for going to bed, and offering to chat more in the morning.

Update on Ro:

It continues to be very funny that Ro asked to talk to me, spent the entire time declaring victory, and then blocked me.

They are still using the "Bully of Bullies, Inc" name they switched to, to try to make fun of me.

This is some extremely funny shit.

For anybody who's curious how bad the Grok Automated Child Porn thing is:

Twitter allows anybody to generate AI "edits" of any picture that anybody's ever posted to Twitter, without their consent.

Pedophiles are following parents and teens, and using Grok to generate CSAM of those specific children whose names they know.

I think I agree basically 100% with this.

Admins should be very quick to block automated accounts that might increase exposure of their users or instance to a broader-than-organic audience.

The person in charge of AT Proto has been having a meltdown for the last two days.

That's just not true about AT Proto.

Moderation on AT Proto is only vaguely possible for Bluesky to do, because they're the vast majority of users on the platform.

Not only is distributed "moderation" on AT Proto not real, but what little moderation that does exist will stop working if the platform does become decentralized.

Labels are not moderation.

Labels are labels.

The Fediverse doesn't need Eugen Rochko to ban Jessie Singal for us.

We can do it ourselves.

We have sovereignty over our own servers, and we can moderate how we want.

And according to the person in charge of the protocol, this isn't a Bluesky problem. It's a protocol problem.

Bluesky isn't broken. AT Proto was designed this way on purpose.

Which is true.

TLDR: It's a protocol made by transphobes to do transphobia.

Bluesky refuses to moderate anti-trans hate accounts, but does ban trans women for "harassment" if they post about how those accounts are bad.

Other recent Bluesky blowups include:

- Banning trans women for making Charlie Kirk jokes.

- Banning trans women for saying they "wish ill" towards JK Rowling.

- Inviting JD Vance to join Bluesky.

Jay, again, who is in charge of the protocol, understands how it works.

She's linked to an article that lays out in substantial detail why AT Proto is unsafe by design, and why moderation on AT Proto is necessarily pretend.

There were different ways to design the protocol. And they chose the way that hurts trans people the most.

I just want to highlight one more big element of this that doesn't get said enough.

WelshPixie decided to harass a random trans woman using Ro's blocklist two days ago, right in the middle of a huge, government-led wave of conspiracy theories about trans women.

Fox News conservatives were calling for the mass arrest or mass killings of trans people.

This is not a coincidence. These harassment campaigns fairly often line up with major attacks against trans people.

The cruelty is the point.

For anybody who isn't deep into the protocols, AT Proto (Bluesky) has some very fundamental security flaws baked right into the design of the protocol.

AT Proto is designed from the ground up to make privacy impossible.

You can't make private posts.

You can't have a private account.

The protocol is designed to make it literally impossible to defederate Nazis.

That is the fundamental design choice that everything else in the protocol is built around.
