@gianni I have wondered how svtav1 is so fast, particularly for such an advanced codec; and it continues to get faster. Do you know why it is so much faster than x265?

Once I finished the first codec comparison, I discovered that both of the AV1 codecs I was testing had received substantial updates in the interim. I made the following post looking at how they have improved.

About 6 months ago I got a bee in my bonnet about the quality of current codecs. I ended up doing more than 1000 encodes, comparing various codecs, presets and quality settings. A little over a month ago I wrote something up about it.
