I'm okay with my TV having smart features. If I had a dedicated device for it (planning on it, but Linux doesn't support HDR yet, sooo), I could just change a setting on the TV to basically never have to see the smart TV stuff by having it default to an input. I have an LG C3 for the record.

By spreading my posts from your instance to another service, I am no longer in control over those posts in any way. I can't block individual instances on there for instance.
What they're doing is a violation of the GDPR. They are a data broker who doesn't ask for consent. When I signed up on this instance, I consented to my posts federating with other instances, but I didn't consent to those instances abusing my posts. They still have to adhere to the GDPR and if they don't, they are violating my rights.
I don't generally like arguing from legality, but I think the GDPR is good, so in this case it made sense. -

But that's not the case when it's being redistributed to bluesky
