Noting the use of the word 'evacuees' for people fleeing Florida. Perhaps we could use the same word for folks fleeing climate induced extreme weather and its societal consequences on other continents.
Nice thing about UK trains is although they're immensely overpriced, because they're almost always late you usually get all or some of the costs refunded, so more often than not it's free public transport which frankly is a great climate policy that we'd never have got any other way
Finally! 3 months after it entered our house, just got positive test result confirmed for whooping cough. And a contact tracing text from the government... ! After all the docs, including one yesterday, saying it was impossible. Still coughing/gasping.
Just chatting with @nebogeo and decided that universities are basically just landlords now - renting out space for academics to work in exchange for overheads on their grants, but then also trying to rent the academics out to students (who pay fees) and businesses (who they hope will pay consultancy rates).
