Visiting Arizona means driving past endless strip malls filled with a repeating pattern of Walmart, Starbuck, CVS, Target, and Safeway. It’s a depressing reminder of what happens when large retailers overwhelm local businesses. I just want to be able to buy what I need (and get a decent coffee) while contributing to the local economy; it shouldn’t be this hard.
