Was just struck by a memory of when I used to work at a #FinTech company.

I was a writer/social media guy and we were going over brand rules for what we could/couldn't post. And we wanted to delve into some political stuff, due to the nature of the company, but wanted to figure out the line.

I said, "Surely we can make blanket statements about stuff we all agree is bad, like slavery, right?"

The legal guy said, "Well, not really, as we'll be doing business in countries that are okay with slavery. So steer clear from those kinds of statements."

I didn't last long at that job.

So, it always feels like a contradiction to me that Jews consider ourselves a people, a nation, a family, but if the wrong parent is Jewish then we have to convert to our own people. I...do not like this.
