Is there a UK equivalent of Bruce Springsteen? Would that be Paul Weller or at least the Punk era’s analogous version? Ray Davies/Kinks? I’m not sure if any of these fit..
McDavid alone with the goalie down and out chokes. I know it's tough at game speed, but that's the game on your stick. Don't make me regret my patronage. #HNOM#NHLOilers
Calling all #music fans! 📢 (Un)inspired by the non-comprehensiveness of the #1001Albums You Must Hear Before You Die list, we're making a Mastodonian 1001 Albums list! 📝
Tell me THE album(s) you think everyone should hear, any genre/language/year, and I'll add to the list (reply here or DM; let me know if you want the submission to be anonymous). And even if you don't add an album, check out the list - maybe you'll find your next fave. :ablobjam:
The only TAB show I listened to this tour was the May 9th show from Chicago and I enjoyed it but haven’t ventured back since. Everyone has been talking up how great last night was so I think I’m gonna dive in. This is a very different headspace compared to recent listens but hopefully I find symmetry somewhere in the notes.
Phantom Pinnacles is one of many names that Harlow MacFarlane but this is his first for me. The tracks are a mixture of sound collage with layered synths mixing it all up for wonderfully Kraut to Nurse With Wounf styled concoctions. They’re very BBC Radiophonic Workshop in a sense but he manages to somehow turn that sound inside out. This is going to get a ton more listens from me over the next few days as there’s still a lot to discover here. https://cycliclaw.bandcamp.com/album/phantom-pinnacles
Saw Psychedelic Porn Crumpets last night. Yes, unfortunately someone gave them the keys to the jamband name generator. Great band though. Complete ripper from note one to close.
South Carolina based black/death band bring a massive sound for this two man band. Cacophonous with little room to breath but it maintains its steady punishing rhythm through and through. The tracks do slow to let things groove but this is usually for short spells between the tracks relentless attack.
@BACarver It’s everything I like most about the improvising of Goose. Breaking down, effortlessly building, destroying it all again with equal skill. I’d give this to anyone who doubts the skill this group possesses.
As Kelly Hrudey ages he’s starting to look like he could be a bank manager on an old episode of Gunsmoke or The Rifleman. Chuck Connors and him would have been best buddies. Two former athletes talkin’ shop..
This collection of tracks from 2023 by Lithuanian producer Grad_U presents a tech house infused style of dub techno infused with a mind numbingly rich palette of tone color flowing freely through each. The tracks just groove throughout with pure techno & classic house taking prominent driving roles. Basic Channel like tones casting a shadow throughout. This is a very good full length! https://mojubarecords.bandcamp.com/album/energy-flow
