Someone asked to register this Callisia cultivar after it was recently introduced to the US, but it has been cultivated in Mexico for decades. The ICRA (@TradescantiaHub) and the ISHS decided it would be fairer to choose the name by community vote. And it should clearly have a Mexican name, it deserves that!!!

Just learned that when the Green Party of England and Wales kicked a TERF out of their party (because they are the only political party who's actually had the guts to do that), the TERF took the Green Party to court over it because being a TERF is protected under the Equality Act (like religion), and the Green Party had to pay out £90,000 when they lost.

It's at 387 now, and I just want to say that it would be really good if the gender split could be somewhat approaching typical for the general population or at least, you know, nonbinary people could be under half of respondents? (Nonbinary people are currently at 61%. :D)

It's day 17 on this survey now, and there have been 1,574 responses so far, with 909 of them from people who hadn't heard of the Gender Census. That means we're only 91 participants away from the mission being complete, and I'll be able to write up a report.

Today I had to unfollow someone because they posted a link to an article and a word I had filtered was in the article preview (but not the post text or the link URL), which was frustrating and sad.

Here is a feature request/bug report on the Mastodon Github issue list asking that filters also be applied to preview cards of links in posts:

Just did a quick and dirty spreadsheet to find out what percentage of instances and users are on Mastodon 4.4 (pre-quote-posts) and 4.5 (quote-posts), and it's like this:

4.4 (pre-quote-posts): 29.7% of instances, 9.1% of users.
4.5 (quote-posts): 1.2% of instances, 11.0% of users.

(4.4 gives instances the ability to see quote-posts properly and has been officially released, and 4.5 gives instances the ability to make them and hasn't been officially released yet.)

Boosts of this poll are really helpful, because I've previously asked Signal to make Esc the key for closing chats, and they closed my feature request as a duplicate of the "custom keyboard commands" feature request, which is obviously not really the same thing.

It's hard to imagine why the Signal developers are so against this idea that they are closing all suggestions of it, but I hope that with enough people requesting it they will add the feature, or at least allow it to be open as its own unique feature request.
