I just set up a monthly donation to #KDE. It kinda felt wrong not to since I use their software all the time, including for making money.
Originally, I was going to summarize my reasons for loving the @kde project so much, but it very quickly exceeded the character limit 😀 Here are at least some bullet points:
- large community - active community - open community - community! - and, of course, performant no-nonsense libre software with tons of features you can't find elsewhere.
I'm working on a new personal generative art tool. The previous one I used to create the majority of my existing posts is a node-based tool that generates GLSL code. The new one has a very similar interface, but generates SVG instead. A huge part of this was possible thanks to @toxi's amazing #ThingUmbrella project!
I ran into an interesting class of patterns a while ago. I managed to distill the algorithm to just a bunch of operations since then. These are polygonal SDFs run through fBm, a periodic function, and fBm again.
