Got myself swept up in a lil mercury retrograde messiness by mistakingly referencing things I've said on here about the liberal "brunch" discourse.

I stand my case on continuing to reinforce the fact that "brunch" as a socio political organizing space has its roots in suffrage movements. (Which were already exclusionary of Natives, WOC , etc. )

I see the convo on the Washington team trying to reinstate the name and that's not totally uncorrelated from the discourse on Sydney Sweeney, musk repost about "women existing for trade, whiteness, etc);

It's very obvious the way online social media models of visibility continue to mimic the same patterns of settler institutions like the church.

I very much resent the ways that labor trafficking has become rebranded as social justice.

To tokenize marginalized groups so they can exist as a simulacra for beneficiaries to extract from..(and yes beneficiaries includes far left spaces that intermittently rewards it's beneficiaries to plaigerize and not cite marginalized targets who are already oppressed by society. Not crediting ppl is another form of labor trafficking.

Of course I tried to reiterate this years ago. I got laughed at by writers I admire cuz they were like "they're never gonna listen" and they were right..

I just think it's interesting how these very dynamics in movements exist as an indictment on labor trafficking structures and cycles as a whole.

Lots of memers copy the cyclical meme format I popularized with my cycleofgenocide infographic after americanindian8 plaigerized it. And I know it's an extension of all the ppl that defended that at the time by going "well it's just a MEME anyway!"
And I'm reminded that I could produce an entire infographic with same cyclical visuals for the phenomena of labor trafficking. But just like cycle of genocide, they ignored the central message while plaigerizing cuz they don't want to change.
