If you think the US needs to ban TikTok because the Chinese government can run influence ops on it, just wait until you find out how easy it is to influence ops on platforms YOU DON'T EVEN OWN--even wholesome American platforms like our beloved Facebook.

There are 20,000+ Mastodon servers alone. Thousands of WordPress and Pixelfed servers.

The idea that the Fediverse is about connecting 5-6 servers, one for each kind of data posted, is really misleading.

After fragdev and loadaverage went down the other year, yours is now the oldest still running GNU Social I'm aware of except for rainbowdash.net, and that one is highly customized and has search protected from outsiders.
