I'm also thinking of a subscription model for MakerTube like Spectra is discussing it. Price increase at Hetzner's is hitting us quite hard (roughly +30%) and I don't know how to cover costs for future storage increase. Sadly I must say that the donation based approach has its limits. Based on prior discussions, a storage based subscription plan for MakerTube could look like this:

- free until 2GB
- 10GB 3€/mo
- 100GB 5€/mo
- 250GB 10€/mo
- 500GB 20€/mo
- 1000GB 35€/mo

The plan is to enable it for new users in the near future and move existing users over later this year.

I'm trying my best to keep the operational costs of MakerTube as low as possible, but usage got a bit out of hand lately. I would like to keep the platform donation-based and don't want to limit quotas, but I expect everyone to contribute as best they can. This is especially true for power users (>100GB usage); a guideline for donations is €0.025/GB/month (which are the actual costs).

MakerTube just got upgraded to version v6.3.0. Besides bug fixes and some UI/UX changes it brings the possibility of passing a separate proxy to Youtube channel synchronization.
