Will Alberta's COP delegation be any more truthful than the recent "Tell The Feds" campaign, which was recently debunked by Albertans on the latest Climate Lens podcast? Let's just say we have our doubts. Give it a listen/like/share/subscribe!
Speaking of our on-the-ground in Dubai greenwash correspondent Dr #JoeVipond, here's his latest Debunktion Junction transmission referenced in today's show, LIVE from the #OPEC Pavillion at COP28 (yes, sadly that's a thing). Security not super friendly.
There will be no Climate Lens COP28 shows for today or Sunday but the coverage continues apace otherwise. Watch this space for the latest news & analysis and you can catch up on the last few shows via our Youtube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqxHD2riFM_hAGSzUKNZXQ7y9TtUrqcpu
Not angry or even remotely surprised COP28 President/BigOil CEO/Sultan #AlJaber is spouting old Climate Denialist tropes today. Expected nothing less. I blame the #UnitedNations team that made it possible & of course #JohnKerry for selling it to you in the first place.
Seems like it was just yesterday COP28 President Al Jaber was denying leaked documents outlining his Big Oil company Adnoc's plans to use the world's biggest & most important Climate conference to bang out a bunch of oil deals. How do we feel about that today?
Just imagine saying #COP28 is off to a "surprisingly smooth start" after its oil baron executive already got caught with his hand in the cookie jar on Day Zero. "Bloomberg Green"? Sounds more like #BloombergGreenwash to me.
Day One of #COP28 is here so we went LIVE with longtime Calgary climate champion and former Calgary city councillor par excellence Druh Farrell to talk about the big news of the day.
All over the world Climate turned the corner this year. In Canada we had our worst wildfire season EVER before summer even hit. In 2023 the COP global climate conference has never been more important yet more compromised. Your daily #COP28 coverage begins here
COP28 will be the Hub's 3rd year covering the COP conferences. Last year we balanced municipal advocacy with our COP27 coverage via our 'Volleyball At City Hall' protest event
We followed up with a pair of interviews with the Hub's own Dr Joe Vipond bookending his trip to Egypt for COP27 and he'll be no small part of our coverage for COP28 (have you subscribed to our podcast yet? You should!)
And we hit up a host of really smart Calgarians for our first year of COP coverage during COP26. We're building on this model to keep you up to speed for the most important (and controversial) COP yet, COP28
Keep an eye on THIS SPACE for daily broadcasts from the Hub/CAPE's Dr Joe Vipond who's covering the COP28 greenwash beat for us over in Dubai this year (no small task given the circumstances).
If you ever wanted a reason for #COP28, the world's prime Climate conference to NOT be held in a petrostate and NOT headed by an oil company executive, this would be it. Great start to the event, gang. I'm chock full of hope over here.
US Climate envoy/former presidential candidate #JohnKerry called #AlJaber a "terrific choice," said "as an oil exec, he understands & accepts the need to transition away from oil." Might as well left a hungry child in charge of the Cheetos. Cheese dust all over his fingers
Putting his reputation/credibility on the line for an Oil Baron to lead the most important Climate conference on Earth without reverting to type & hammering out a bunch of climate-destroying oil deals is the 2nd biggest failure of #JohnKerry's life.
